Taylor Swift has announced a new six-part docuseries charting her record-breaking ‘Eras Tour’ trek. Find all the details below.

The singer wrapped the ‘Eras Tour’ last December – playing the final of her 149 shows that took place across 21 months in Vancouver. The dates grossed a record-breaking $2billion through ticket sales, saw Swift bring out numerous special guests for the performances, and made headlines for the charity work she did along the way.

As was announced by the pop supremo today (October 13), the first two episodes of The End of an Era, which chronicle the tour, are set to premiere on Disney+ on December 12. That same day, Disney+ will also debut Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour – The Final Show, a new concert film capturing her last-ever ‘Eras Tour’ stop in Vancouver’s BC Place last year.

From then on, fans will be treated to two new episodes of the docuseries per week for two weeks.

Taking to social media, Swift wrote of the upcoming releases: “It was the End of an Era and we knew it. We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives, so we allowed filmmakers to capture this tour and all the stories woven throughout it as it wound down. And to film the final show in its entirety. ”

The Final Show features “the entire ‘Tortured Poets Department’ set” from Swift’s massive run of dates.

News of the docuseries and film, naturally announced on the 13th – her favourite number – follows the release of her new album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl’.

She was already quick to rule out taking the new music on tour, saying recently: “I’m gonna be really honest with you. I am so tired, like when I think about doing it again. Because I would want to do it really well again, you know?”

NME gave ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ three stars, writing: “To seek escapism is not a sin, but the best pop music makes the personal feel like life or death. ‘Speak Now’, ‘Reputation’‘Folklore’: her greatest works could be genuinely transformative. For the first time, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ sees Swift not catalysed into artistic growth by love, but merely comfortably secured by it.”

The mixed reception hasn’t dampened album sales however, and Swift has actually broken Adele’s streaming-era record with her new album release, chart figures have revealed.

‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ has earned 3.5million album units in the US alone, as per Billboard. Of this total, traditional album sales (physical and digital purchases), equal 3.2million copies, while the remaining 300,000 relate to streaming.

This now surpasses the record previously set by Adele in the opening week of ‘25’ when it debuted with 3.378million copies sold in 2015. Swift’s ‘Showgirl’ has now secured a new record for the largest week, by equivalent album units, for an album, since the Billboard chart began ranking the most popular albums by equivalent units in 2014.
