The League Of Legends world championship took place over the weekend with Anyma, Chrissy Costanza and more performing during an epic opening ceremony.
The 2025 League Of Legends Worlds Championship saw esports team T1 beat KT Rolster to claim the crown for a third consecutive year.
Before the tense final, Riot Games put on an epic opening ceremony at the Dong’an Lake Sports Park Multifunctional Gymnasium in Chengdu, China with dance titan Anyma co-creative director of the whole show.
The 15-minute show started with Chrissy Costanza performing an incredible medley of past Worlds anthems including ‘Phoenix’ and ‘Legends Never Die’ as the League Of Legends players took to the stage. TEYA performed their 2025 LOL anthem ‘Bite Marks’ and G.E.M. delivered an EDM remix of her recent track ‘Sacrifice’ with a little help from Anyma.
It’s been reported that more than 2.7million people tuned in to watch Worlds 2025.
Speaking about his involvement in the opening ceremony, Anyma told NME: “I’m a huge gamer and have been my whole life. I love the League Of Legends IP, from [Netflix adaptation] Arcane to Worlds, and it’s a real honour to be asked. They, like me, connect music and 3D animations so it was a no brainer to collaborate. Between my team, Riot’s team and [live production company Done and Dusted], a lot of people have been involved because the production value is so high. It’s been really exciting to have so many people working together to achieve the same goal.”
“I’m trying to bridge the gap between the physical and digital world. It’s something gamers do when they immerse themselves [into a title]. They detach from reality and explore a new one. For a live experience based around a video game, I really want people to be unsure about what’s digital and what’s physical. It’s basically going to be super immersive,” he added.
“It’s really awesome that gaming has been part of our career and such a massive part of our success,” Costanza told NME in 2022. Gaming “has given us such an identity, that we really feel we belong here.”
In other news, the nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards have been announced but gaming fans are furious that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been snubbed in the Best Video Game Soundtrack category.
