Marmozets have returned with a new single called ‘A Kiss From A Mother’, and their first live shows since 2018.

The single marks the first new music from the Yorkshire band in seven years – following them taking a hiatus after releasing two albums: 2014’s ‘The Weird And Wonderful Marmozets’ and 2018’s ‘Knowing What You Know Now’.

Getting back in the studio for the first time since singer Becca and Jack Bottomley got married and started a family together, the recording process saw them reunite with guitarist Sam Macintyre and drummer Josh Macintyre, and enlist Andy Hawkins and Jonathan Gilmore (Biffy Clyro, Nothing But Thieves) as producers.

The comeback single, ‘A Kiss From A Mother’, sees them reignite their signature ferocious sound, and pack a punch with charismatic, soaring vocals and gothy garage-inspired guitar riffs.

Time to feel alive,” Becca Bottomley roars as the band erupt into the chorus. “Act on what you hear/ Not in one ear and out the other/ Nothing two-faced or fickle here/ A kiss from a mother.”

“The message of the song is to make sure you listen, rather than just shoot straight back,” the frontwoman explained. “Probably everyone can relate to the idea of not letting some advice go in one ear and out the other, let it actually immerse in you. As for my voice, that’s just my spirit coming out! I’m not playing a character; I’m giving it all that I’ve got.”

As well as sharing the new single, Marmozets have also announced their first headline shows since 2018. These kick off with an opening night in Huddersfield on December 1, and continue with stops in Cardiff, Brighton, and Coventry later that month.

From there, the band continue their run of headline shows in the new year, with 2026 dates starting with a show at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow on January 20.

Other dates throughout that month include shows in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol and more, before wrapping up with a gig at Dingwalls in London on January 31.

Tickets go on sale this Friday (November 7) at 9am. Visit here for tickets.

In 2017, shortly after the band announced the follow-up to their 2014 debut ‘The Weird And Wonderful Marmozets’, the members caught up with NME and revealed that they nearly gave up while making their sophomore release after facing some personal obstacles.

“I had some knee operations, then felt like I had to start again,” Becca Bottomley (then Becca Macintyre) revealed. “I had to learn how to walk again and everything. I had this ultimate fear in my heart, mind and soul – I let fear do me over. I thought I was done. But fear never wins. I had a voice in my head going ‘get up girl, you’re going to be fucking fine’.”

She continued: “I had all of the confidence blown out of me. People don’t always tell you that you’re doing great. It can be very stressful at the time, I’m a very sensitive person and all I needed to hear was ‘girl, you’re awesome, this is what you’re supposed to be doing’. I just needed some attention! It was just a shitty patch and I’m out the other side of the storm now. It’s a beautiful place to be.”

Check out the rest of the interview here, where the band also talk about Liam Gallagher claiming that “rock is dead”, the things that inspired them to continue making music, and what it was like to find out Robbie Williams was a fan.
