Saint Etienne have announced their final UK and Ireland tour, ‘The Long Goodbye’. Find all the details below.

The London trio, who formed in 1990, are set to bid farewell to fans on these shores with a series of live shows next autumn. They’ll be showcasing their last-ever studio album, ‘International’, released earlier this year, among other favourites.

Kicking off in Manchester on September 15, Saint Etienne’s ‘The Long Goodbye’ trek will also include gigs in Bristol, Sheffield, Glasgow, Dublin, Gateshead, Brighton and Cambridge throughout the month.

The band are scheduled to play a final homecoming show at the Roundhouse in Camden Town, London, on Friday September 18.

“We’re excited – but slightly teary – to bring you news of our final UK/Irish tour which takes place next September,” Saint Etienne wrote on social media today (November 27).

“Please don’t be sad, we want these shows to be fun parties. Live sets where we’ll select the ‘best of the best’ from our 35-year, 13-album catalogue.”

Tickets go on general sale at 10am GMT next Friday (December 5) – you’ll be able to buy yours here. Alternatively, fans can access an O2 Priority pre-sale at the same time on Wednesday (3), or a venue/Ticketmaster pre-sale on Thursday (4). You can also sign up for a fan pre-sale here.

Saint Etienne have hinted that there’ll be more farewell live dates in other territories, too, writing: “Will there be tours in Europe, America, Japan or Australia? It’s too early to say right now…”

Prior to ‘The Long Goodbye’ gigs, Saint Etienne are due to open for Belle & Sebastian at Dreamland Margate, and Halifax’s The Piece Hall next summer.

Saint Etienne’s UK and Ireland ‘The Long Goodbye’ tour dates are:

When announcing their final record, a press release said Saint Etienne “remain the best of friends after 35 years recording together – but they don’t feel like they want to go on forever and wanted to go out with a bang”.

Over the summer, Saint Etienne responded to a Winona Ryder interview in which the actor said the band “rescued” her during a difficult period in her life.
