Strange Basin #5 with the Zombie
Fontaines D.C. have shared details of a huge new show in Belfast, where Kneecap will join them as special guests. Find the details below.
The news of the show was confirmed this morning (April 22) on Instagram, where a post from Grian Chatten and co. revealed that the two would be taking to the stage in Belfast later this summer.
Set to take place on Friday August 29, the gig will be held at the Boucher Road Playing Fields as part of the 2025 edition of Belfast Vital.
According to the latest update, general sale for tickets will commence this Friday (April 25), and early access options will be available to those who sign up to Fontaines’ mailing list before 8am tomorrow (April 23). You’ll be able to buy tickets here.
Check out the full post below.
News of the new show comes just days after it was revealed that Fontaines would be taking to the stage with fellow Irish act Lankum, and set to play a special homecoming gig at Guinness’ headquarters later this year.
That show will be held as part of the Lovely Days Live at the Home of Guinness series, which takes place at St. James’s Gate between May 23 and May 25, and is described as “an unforgettable three-day music, food and culture experience”.
As for Fontaines D.C. and Kneecap playing together, the upcoming Belfast gig adds to the growing list of joint shows the two bands have planned for 2025.
Already, the two are set to appear together at London’s Finsbury Park this summer, with Kneecap joining Fontaines as special guests for their headline show in the capital. They will also play a huge outdoor show together in Manchester, where Chatten and co. will headline a gig at Wythenshawe Park, and have already enlisted the hip-hop trio as special guests.
These shows all come as an extension to the jam-packed list of tour dates both bands have respectively planned. Visit here for tickets to all Kneecap shows, and here for tickets to all Fontaines D.C. shows.
For Fontaines D.C., the new show in Belfast follows the release of their album ‘Romance’ last year. It was their fourth LP, peaked at Number Two in the UK, and recently landed at Number Four in the top 10 best-selling vinyl albums of 2025 so far.
Last week (April 16), the band went on to share the Deluxe Edition on digital online platforms, including three additional tracks, including a dreamy new track titled ‘Before You I Just Forget’, the standalone single ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’, and a previously unreleased, stripped-back live version of ‘Starburster’.
For Kneecap, the announcement comes as Móglaí Bap, Mo Chara, and DJ Próvaí have gone from strength to strength over the past two years. This includes winning over fans with their huge debut album ‘Fine Art’ and sharing a critically acclaimed biopic that saw them nab BAFTA nominations and two Oscar nods.
It also comes following them storming some of the biggest stages across the world, including Glastonbury, Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, and countless headline shows across the UK, Ireland, the US and Australia. Festival appearances from the trio this summer include stops at Green Man, Rock For People, Flow Festival, Øya, TRNSMT and more.
