Miley Cyrus announces original song for ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ inspired by devastating LA fires

Miley Cyrus will be contributing a new song to the Avatar: Fire and Ash soundtrack called ‘Dream As One’.

The song has been especially made by Cyrus for the forthcoming instalment of James Cameron’s sci-fi franchise, and will be shared officially on November 14.

Titled ‘Dream As One’, the song saw her join forces with Andrew Wyatt, Mark Ronson and Simon Franglen, and will feature in the end credits for the third Avatar movie.

She announced the song by sharing a brief snippet of it on social media, and explained that it was partly inspired by the devastating fires that tore across Los Angeles at the start of the year.

“Honored to support Avatar: Fire and Ash with an original song I’ve written with Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt,” Cyrus began in the caption.

“Having been personally affected by fire and being rebuilt from the ashes, this project holds profound meaning for me. Thank you, Jim, for the opportunity to turn that experience into musical medicine,” she added. “The film’s themes of unity, healing, and love resonate deeply within my soul, and to be even a small star in the universe the Avatar family has created is truly a dream come true.”

While the song will be officially released as a single next month, the full soundtrack for the film – which also features a score composed by Franglen – won’t be dropping until December 12.

This isn’t the first time that Cyrus has gotten involved with a film’s soundtrack. Last winter she shared the song ‘Beautiful That Way’ for the Pamela Anderson-starring The Last Showgirl.

The forthcoming song will follow on from the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer sharing her ninth studio album, ‘Something Beautiful’ earlier this year, alongside an accompanying film.

As for the new Avatar movie, the first trailer for Fire And Ash arrived over the summer and received a mixed response from fans, with some calling it underwhelming.

The plot of the third film in the franchise will see Jake and Neytiri (Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña) return, and work together as they cope with loss and encounter a new Na’vi tribe. The latter is led by new character Varang (Oona Chaplin), who has aligned with the villainous Quaritch (Stephen Lang).

James Cameron previously confirmed the film will be the longest in the franchise, and it will be in UK cinemas from December 19.
