The 2025 Grammy Awards will take place on January 2 (early January 3 in the UK) live from the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles.
Last week (January 14), Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. confirmed that the ceremony will proceed as planned despite the destruction that has struck Los Angeles earlier in the year.
Since the devastating wildfires began on January 7, over 180,000 residents of Los Angeles were forced to evacuate their homes. To date, 27 confirmed deaths have been reported, with over 20 people reported missing.
However, Mason Jr. shared that the 2025 Grammys will double as a fund-raising event, the Recording Academy and MusiCares have launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort, and are donating US$1million to “provide both immediate relief and long-term support to individuals and families in the music industry facing displacement and loss due to the disaster.”
The 2025 Grammy nominations were announced back in November, with The Beatles, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are competing for Record of the Year.
Securing 11 nominations, Beyoncé has officially become the most Grammy-nominated artist in the history of the award show. She was previously tied with her husband Jay-Z for a total of 88 nominations but following the announcement of the 67th annual Grammy Awards noms, the ‘Crazy In Love’ singer has earned a total of 99 nominations throughout her career. Back in 2023, Beyoncé broke the record for most Grammy wins of all time, with 32 trophies to her name.
