The moment took place during Lipa’s show at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Wednesday night (March 26), as part of her tour in support of her album ‘Radical Optimism’.

It’s not the first time she’s paid homage to the iconic Aussie group – they were credited on her 2020 single ‘Break My Heart’ due to its similarities to their 1987 hit ‘Need You Tonight’. When stopping in their hometown, she referenced another of their biggest songs from the same year.

“Every time I think back to these songs, they’re also so ingrained in British culture and it just brings us closer together even though we’re on opposite sides of the world. It feels really special,” she told the crowd. “This is a song that I always always go back to, it’s one I love.” Check out her cover below.

While on tour down under, Lipa has made headlines with an eclectic mixture of covers, including Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’, Natalie Imbruglia’s ‘Torn’ and AC/DC’s ‘Highway To Hell’.

She also brought out Vance Joy for a cover of ‘Riptide’ at her final Melbourne show, and treated the audience to a surprise appearance from Troye Sivan.

After wrapping up in Australia, Lipa is heading to the UK for even more live shows this summer, kicking off the run with two huge concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium (June 20, 21) followed by two dates at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool on June 24 and 25.

In other news, earlier today (March 28) Lipa shared a new version of her 2020 hit song ‘Physical’, including a new feature from Sivan.

It comes as part of a special re-release of ‘Future Nostalgia’ in celebration of its fifth anniversary. The vinyl set is out today, almost exactly five years after the album first dropped.
