Strange Basin #4 Host Stories Channel X94
After d4vd faceplanted at Coachella, he embraced the viral moment and shared a jokey response with fans on social media.
The indie pop-rocker played the Gobi tent on the Californian festival’s opening day (April 11), attempting to hype up the crowd with a gymnastic display that went awry after his foot slipped ahead of a backflip, landing him on his head.
As he later joked about on X/Twitter, the rising singer quickly recovered and continued singing. Sharing a video of a more successful move that came later in the performance, he wrote: “GOT UP AND GOT DA AURA RIGHT BACK HO LMAOOO FUN SET FUN MF SET.”
With fans teasing him about the moment, he followed up with another post, a meme of a dog gazing into a sunset, captioned: “Humiliation ritual complete… see u next week coachella i love u.”

Ahead of his set next weekend he assured fans he was “training for the next one”. Taking to his Instagram stories, he posted a screenshot of the disastrous backflip and explained he was going to listen to his track ‘What Are You Waiting For’ “while I practice this backflip 1000 times today.”
Last year, he spoke to NME about selling out shows across the US and Europe, supporting SZA on tour and writing music for TV and gaming, explaining that prior to performing his first-ever show last year, he had never been to a concert.
“I never went to concerts or festivals or anything of the sort. So it was kind of like I was letting the audience perform to me as I was performing to them. I didn’t get nervous. I didn’t have a mental breakdown backstage,” he said.
“It’s super easy; I love performing. When you’re performing to people that know your songs, it’s like an energy transfer. They give me energy, I give them energy and we’re both having fun. Having fun on stage is the most important thing to me.”
Elsewhere at the festival, Benson Boone joined d4vd in impressing fans with his onstage moves, with his performance featuring his signature backflips too.
