NME’s latest star of The Cover, Spill Tab, has put together an exclusive playlist to accompany the story’s launch – check it out below.

The French-Korean alt-pop star is on this week’s (May 12) edition of The Cover, a manifestation of NME’s commitment to supporting emerging talent across the globe on a weekly basis. Every week, a rising artist will feature on The Cover – you can read Spill Tab’s profile here, written by Hollie Geraghty and featuring photography by Deanie Chen.

The Los Angeles-based artist discusses her journey in The Cover, which arrives ahead of the release of her debut album ‘Angie’ on May 16. In the story, Spill Tab – aka Claire Chicha – recalls a period where she was signed to a major label and, outwardly, everything looked like she was on the right path. “My trajectory was ascending and things were going objectively well, but I didn’t feel that way,” she said.

After leaving her old deal behind, she found a new sense of liberation that fed into the making of ‘Angie’. “I just felt so much more empowered in my own taste,” she explained. “I was like, ‘Fuck it. I’m just gonna make an album the way that I want to make it’. I hope that with this album, I get to cement this time of my life into this project and I can remember it for the rest of my life.”
