Tycho and Interpol‘s Paul Banks have teamed up for hypnotic collaboration, ‘Boundary Rider’ – check it out below.
The former took to his Instagram page to thank Banks and said “Interpol has long been one of my biggest influences so it felt like a full circle moment when this all came together.”
Speaking about the how the track came together, the producer said: “‘Boundary Rider’ started life as an atmospheric instrumental titled ‘Forge’ that I had been working on here and there for a couple of years. When I met Paul and started thinking about what songs might connect with his voice ‘Forge’ immediately came to mind.”
Tyco continued: “I sent him a demo along with the prompt ‘Boundary Rider’. I had been reading about the lives of Boundary Riders during the 1930’s, people who patrolled and maintained fences in the vast expanse of the Western Australian outback. There was something about this solitary existence that I felt resonated with the song and the deep sense of isolation in Paul’s lyrics brought this into focus.” Listen to the track below.
The atmospheric single features Banks on vocals as he sings: “Here comes the cavalry / This is now, don’t wait in back / Worked on solid things / These enchanted hours move fast / Grey, ace, solitude, this is how we change, true glad / Read me, safe passage, boundary rider.”
Meanwhile, Interpol dropped a teaser earlier today (October 27) suggesting that they could be going on a UK tour with Bloc Party.
Both bands took to Instragram to share a snippet of their music from the mid-noughties and a message that “something special is coming” this Friday (October 31) at 9am GMT.
Interpol’s last album was 2022’s ‘The Other Side Of Make-Believe’ but they have been working on a new record, which is likely to drop in 2026.
Speaking to NME in July guitarist Daniel Kessler said: “We’ve still got a little bit of work to do, but it’s really getting there. We’re all really excited about the results and the feel of it. It will be coming out next year.”
He added: “It’s the first album we recorded in New York in 10 years, and it has a very winter-time New York feel to it. The studio had an open floor, we could see the skyline, and it had this Gotham kind of setting for us. It’s got a sense of that, for sure.”
