Mumford & Sons have covered Gracie Abrams and played their new Hozier collaboration for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month. Watch the performances below.
The London band, who released their latest album ‘RUSHMERE’ in March, appeared in session for the station yesterday (Monday October 27).
They kicked off the two-song set with a live rendition of their latest single ‘Rubber Band Man’ – the original of which features Hozier.
Later, Marcus Mumford and co. treated listeners to a version of Abrams’ 2024 single ‘I Love You, I’m Sorry’ from her second record ‘The Secret Of Us’.
“We are covering ‘I Love You, I’m Sorry’ by Gracie Abrams because we love it, and we love her,” Mumford said to introduce the song. “And when it was available, we couldn’t believe no one had done it yet. So we really lucked out. We’re very excited about it.”
The frontman went on to explain that both ‘Rubber Band Man’ and Abrams’ ‘I Love You, I’m Sorry’ were produced by The National‘s Aaron Dessner. “So there’s some shared DNA in there, I’m sure,” he added.
In November last year, Abrams revealed that Mumford & Sons had heard her “very vulgar” version of her hit song ‘That’s So True’ that will “never see the light of day”.
Next week will see Mumford & Sons embark on a European and UK headline tour. The trek is set to conclude with two concerts at London’s O2 in December. Find any remaining tickets here.
Earlier this year, Mumford & Sons played two acoustic pop-up shows in London, headlined Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool, and performed some intimate club dates in the UK, Europe, Australia and North America.
Over the summer, they were joined by Noah Kahan and Maggie Rogers for their 2025 US ‘Railroad Revival Tour’ – a reworking of their 2011 tour of the US railway, which saw all the participating artists travel together by train alongside an ‘all-star house band’ featuring the likes of Nathaniel Rateliff, Lucius, Trombone Shorty, Madison Cunningham and Leif Vollebekk.
The band have implemented a £1 donation to Live Trust for every ticket sold for the UK dates, with the money going to the new funding initiative from LIVE that offers financial support to those working in live music. They have also partnered with PLUS1 so that £1 from every ticket sold will go to War Child.
