The trailer has been released for The End Of An Era, the upcoming Taylor Swift docuseries charting her ‘Eras Tour’ – watch below.

Last month (October 13), the pop megastar announced that the first two episodes of the six-part series would premiere on Disney+ on December 12, with the subsequent episodes arriving in pairs on December 19 and 26.

The show will chronicle the record-smashing 149-date tour, which launched in March 2023 and concluded with a show in Vancouver last Decembergrossing over $2billion through ticket sales.

Now, fans can watch the trailer for the show, which opens with Swift saying, “I’m very aware of mysterious forces at play that I will never have any control of”. We see backstage footage of Swift with her friends and family, as well as clips of her assembling the setlist, planning complicated stage routines and working with some of her special guests from the tour, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ed Sheeran.

Watch here:

Swift has said: “It was the End of an Era and we knew it. We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives, so we allowed filmmakers to capture this tour and all the stories woven throughout it as it wound down. And to film the final show in its entirety.”

The final part refers to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour – The Final Show, a concert film which will also arrive on Disney+ on December 12, It will be made up of the entire ‘Tortured Poets Department’ set from the final Vancouver show.

That follows on from the previous concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which was released in October 2023 and scored a four-star review from NME, which noted: “It’s a staggering feat. In the space of one seamless performance, Swift is at turns a playfully eccentric artist, a country star and a genuine pop icon.”

“Yet for all the spectacle, it might be those acoustic songs that linger longest in the memory. Her performance alone at the piano of choice ‘Midnights’ cut ‘You’re On Your Own, Kid’, and the 10-minute version of ‘All Too Well’ that closes the ‘Red’ era, are spectacular reminders of what Taylor Swift can do with just an instrument and the power of her voice. Of course, as The Eras Tour proves time and again, Taylor Swift can do pretty much whatever she wants.”

On October 3, Swift released her new album ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’, although she has been quick to rule out taking that record on tour in the same way. “I’m gonna be really honest with you,” she said. “I am so tired, like when I think about doing it again. Because I would want to do it really well again, you know?”

NME gave ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ three stars, writing: “To seek escapism is not a sin, but the best pop music makes the personal feel like life or death. ‘Speak Now’, ‘Reputation’, ‘Folklore’: her greatest works could be genuinely transformative. For the first time, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ sees Swift not catalysed into artistic growth by love, but merely comfortably secured by it.”

A mixed reaction for the record has not affected its commercial performance – it broke Adele’s long-held streaming-era record for first-week chart sales, becoming her 15th US Number One album.
